Introduction

The China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Research Institute was proposed by the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee to implement the "Eight Major Initiatives" put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Based on the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Hunan and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Deep Cooperation Pilot Zone, two national platforms, it serves as an intellectual support platform to promote the long-term mechanism for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation and exchanges.

Under the business guidance of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, the institute is jointly established by Hunan University, with Central South University, Xiangtan University, and Hunan Agricultural University participating. Its purpose is to provide decision-making support for promoting the construction of a new high ground for local economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa, conduct scientific research on fundamental, overall, and long-term major theoretical and practical issues in the development of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, train and deliver compound economic and trade talents (including undergraduates, postgraduates, doctoral students, international students, executive training, etc.) for the sustainable development of China-Africa economic and trade, and provide consulting services for the practical needs of enterprises engaged in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.
